The New Streets of La Hoya in Torrevieja Now Have Names: A Tribute to Local Figures
The urban development of La Hoya in Torrevieja continues to move forward. The City Council has officially approved the names of 16 streets and squares within this future macro-urbanization, a key sector where over 7,400 new homes are planned. This marks an important milestone in the transformation of this strategic area, located next to the N-332 and the Natural Park of the La Mata and Torrevieja Lagoons.
Honoring Historical and Local Figures
The new streets will be named after individuals who have played a significant role in Torrevieja's history and identity. These include teachers, painters, religious figures, politicians, and entrepreneurs, most of whom have strong ties to the city. Some names had already been approved, such as Don Vicente Castell Ibáñez Street, in honor of a merchant and former mayor of Torrevieja in the early 20th century.
Other names, initially proposed in 2014 for the Los Balcones area, are being revived, such as:

Recognizing the Role of Real Estate Developers
Several names are directly connected to the urbanization project. The José Luis Serna Square pays tribute to the founder of TM Real Estate Group, one of the developers of this area. Streets will also be named after Doña Joaquina Lorente, his wife, and Don Gabriel Ballester García, a beloved pharmacy employee in Torrevieja, among others.
